Fluorescent lights were standard on Gato subs in 1944. The ones you see aboard CAVALLA are from her Cold War refit as an SSK. In WWII it was thought that a mix of incandescent and fluorescent lights would improve habitability.

Well, if we all had that kind of lovely model on hand for our demonstations we might be as casual with her presentation as well!!! Don't complain to me if someday she picks up one of those heavy duty light stands and bonks you on the noggin! :o)

This is an M4A3 tank -- so the engine is a FORD GAA 8-cylinder gas engine.

Same motor used in the M-26 and many other tanks. The ARMY loved the GAA and so did tankers!
