Patricia Cardona, flutist, is an undergrad student at the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance class of 2012, and is pursuing a Music Performance degree under the instruction of Molly Barth, and a minor in German. Patricia is passionate about world music and hopes to study Ethnomusicology in grad school.
Patricia has been the principal flute and piccolo in the Oregon Wind Ensemble and participated in the University Symphony and Oregon Marching Band Auxially Colorguard.
In 2008 she debuted with the Salem Chamber Orchestra and the Salem Youth Symphony. In 2009 she performed with the Salem POPs Orchestra, as well as at the Glenn Miller Festival, and for the Eugene Shakespeare in the Park series. In 2010 she was featured in the Salem Community Concert Association's, Rising Stars Concert.
In 2010 Patricia was an MTNA NW Division Young Artist Winds finalist. Other accomplishments include: Patricia was named an Artist for Sonare Winds, a Division of Powell flutes, was the recipient of the National 2008 Arts in Action, Live on Stage scholarship, and received the John Phillip Sousa Award. Also in 2008, Patricia was the MTNA NW Division Senior Woodwind National Alternate and a national finalist for JFK Center/National Symphony Orchestra National Trustees' Summer Music Institute. She has placed first and second at OSAA State Solo/Ensemble, was three-time OMEA District 4 Champion, and has been principal flute/piccolo for Salem Youth Symphony, City, State, and NW honor bands.
Patricia has performed in master classes and/or had private lesson with Michel Debost, Jill Felber, Walfrid Kujala, Lorna McGhee, Mary Karen Clardy, Jim Walker, Brad Ganer and others. Patricia was formerly the student of Sandy Duffy-Norman of RoseWynde Flute and Harp Duo, as well as Sabrina Saiki-Mita at Punahou Conservatory.
