Here is a song I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy.
Split in two where particles are broke
Crystals are breaking now, are breaking now, it's a cleavage plane
And have you seen an LCD before
Electric current passed through crystals
Molecules line up and block the light

'Cause crystals form as they cool below
And others might when water is gone
The shape depends on arrangement, the crystal's shape will change
A solid geometric shape
Straight edges and flat surface
And bonding particles in substance, the crystal's shape will change
When water falls and combines with substance too
Chemically bond, chemically bond and hydration a crystal new
And quartz crystals in the crust are mined right
The beautiful kind, used in watches tell time
They vibrate making clocks work right
