No it is not. The Sun's gravitational pull you are mentioning is differential and makes you lighter when you are facing it AND when you are on the opposite side.

The Moon acts the same way and this effect causes 2 tides a day, not just one.

Of course, according to Newton's 3rd law, the two forces you are mentioning are exactly opposite, BUT, they are exerted on different systems. The ball feels only ONE of the two opposite forces.
