A: They're both insane.

The 3 Great Insanities that rule the modern world:

1) Religion / conservatism. The kind of people who think the superstitious ramblings of bronze age tribesmen should be taken seriously / literally, who oppose abortion and women's rights in general, don't like social security, want to get tough on victimless crime, worship capitalism, and have a big problem with (homo)sexuality.

2) Socialism / PC leftism. The kind of people who like to trip out on White Guilt and cultural relativism, support unchecked third world immigration and gun control, see taxes as a means to eradicate income differences, confuse free speech with politically correct speech and envy with fairness, think humans are the worst 'natural disaster' ever, and who'll happily label anyone who disagrees with them a racist, sexist, or homophobe.

3) Deathism. The blind acceptance, trivialization, or outright glorification of aging & death, and the rejection of radical life extension and physical immortality. Both the lefties and the fundies are deathists, albeit in completely different ways. The former trivialize the problems of aging and death, and think blindly accepting our mortality is somehow 'wise' and 'mature', while the latter flatly deny the finality of death, and claim it's just a transition to some kind of afterlife or rebirth. Both groups agree that death is a 'natural' part of life, and *therefore* good and necessary. Needless to say, their 'logic' does not compute...
