@grantham8 Yes, he's done a good job of editing that all together. I know it's not quite the same thing, but I think the 1952 one still beats the modern "Top Gear version" (even though it wasn't made with anything like the same intention). Although their footage is perhaps more visually impressiv...

@globaleye8 Yes, the original film was 1954, and the music is by Clifton Parker (who also wrote the music for the 1959 Kenneth More 39 Steps, which also features an A4 and an A1). The bits with those engines is on YouTube as "39 Steps (1959) 3/11".

@KRPTV Yes, I seem to recall I used to find these titles quite frightening as a child as well (I also remember being under the impression that the set really *was* in the clock tower, though, so perhaps I was just stupid). I must have only been about 3-4, though, so it's probably forgivable.

@Sneakily It's probably somewhere on the Stanford battle area in Norfolk, probably somewhere around Thetford. I imagine they filmed this section on the same day as the "Battle School" episode, which uses a shorter version of the same shot (with the explosions going off) as the end credits.

It's a shame that the soundtrack version is a different arrangement without the great orchestration of the original film version. The CD soundtrack version seems to dwell too much on the cut song "When love is gone" and misses out all the little carol snippets.
