Not only did Eddie George go absolutely crazy running in this one, but it got the Illinois monkey off Coop's back. He had lost 6 of his first 7 against the Illini coming in (they had also won their last four trips into the 'shoe) and ended up winning 5 of his last 6.

I remember thinking back in '94 that Coop finally had the monkey off his back. Well, it climbed back up there fairly quickly.

His teams usually seemed to play much more relaxed against Mich when a Big Ten or national title wasn't at stake.

Take the '98 game..his only other win. Two weeks earlier ...
