Outback is a program at Pacific University that creates outdoor recreational opportunities for the students, staff, and faculty. Outback has trained student leaders and outside resource leaders for the trips it creates. Some of the more popular trips include Sea Kayaking on the Oregon Coast, Rock climbing at Mt. Hood, Smith Rock, indoor gyms, and other great areas, Day Hike trips, Whitewater Rafting on the Deschutes and Clackamas Rivers, Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing, and Ski/Snowboard shuttles to Mt. Hood, and also extended trips over holiday weekends and over Spring Break. This program is directed at encouraging students to get off campus and have a little fun in the incredible outdoor recreational area that we reside.
