I'm a professional Drummer who suffered a Career ending Stroke in 1996. If you're new to my YouTube Channel, this is more or less a journal of my journey back into the Music Industry after my Stroke back in 1996.What was asked of me by a friend was to somehow Chronologically list my progression throughout a Calender Year so people see it. At some point I'll have it together with some type of tag that'll make sense, so hang in there.
Now for the**DISCLAIMER**and Freakout Fest..
I'm not a "Rock Star" with any kind of Ego Issues nor do I inspire to be one. I'm having way to much fun just being me right now. The material(s) played by myself are NOT supposed to sound like the Drummer(s) in the original recordings! I'm playing what I want to play because I'm having fun. Annnnd, because I REFUSE to sound like some "Programmed Robot". Remember, "Robots have no feelings, therefore they no not the meaning of this word, FUN?" And if they can't have fun, they truly are missing out on life. You see, I play from the heart. If I feel about something while I'm playing, I go with it. Sometimes I pull off a nice lick, and other times I step on my shoe lace and fall right on my face. So I tend to try to play it that much better the next time around because I always try to avoid that same mistake twice thing. [Whispering - It doesn't look good] LOL
So of coarse it's not going to sound like the original Drummer. Am I keeping time? Am I keeping a groove? Am I screwing up the song, or is it okay? You see, if I'm screwing up a song, you can tell me so, but it in a way that's constructive. Otherwise, what I do is what's known as "Interpretation". How someone sees something or hears or feels something would be the easiest way to say it.
I know I sound a bit brash, but it's amazing the number of people I've had "Bashing and Criticizing" me until they took the time to read about me. I don't mind it when people critique my playing. In fact, I encourage it. But I do get a little upset at the critics who aren't musicians and/or don't even have videos of their own to critique. Look, I'm just a simple guy who loves to play music. If there's something I'm missing in my playing that someone out there can help me with, by all means, send me a message or a lesson video that'll help. Believe me, I really do accept criticism well when it's something constructive. But I don't accept bashing...
To those who have taken the time to read before beating me about the head with clubs and sticks, Please accept my apologies for rambling and the crap load of possible misspelled words. So once again I leave you with the beginning of the Story;
Now begins my journey back to becoming the Drummer I used to be. Wish me luck, and comments are always welcome...
