This is the Official Youtube channel for the
Planes of Fame Air Museum.
While the journey from 10 original aircraft to over 150 has been a long one, the mission has never changed. Planes of Fame Air Museum remains dedicated to collecting, restoring, preserving and displaying aircraft and memorabilia for the educational benefit of current and future generations. And although the Museum spans the history of manned flight from the Chanute Hang Glider of 1896 to the Space Age of Apollo, many more chapters remain to be written and many more stories told before the vision of a young Ed Maloney is finally fulfilled.
About Me:

The very first permanent air museum in the American West, Planes of Fame was founded by Edward T. Maloney in Claremont, California in January of 1957. The doors first opened on January 12, 1957. At that time, it was simply called "The Air Museum". There was no need to be more specific, because no other air museums existed in the U.S. west of the Mississippi River!
The original collection consisted of just 10 airplanes. From those humble beginnings, the Museum has grown to over 150 aircraft, more than 50 of which are flyable. The Air Museum Planes of Fame is the oldest and largest privately held Air Museum in The United States. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2007. The Air Museum Planes of Fame is currently located in Chino, California with a satellite facility in Valle, Arizona.

LIVING HISTORY FLYING EVENTS

Living History Flying Events at Planes of Fame Air Museum are are held on the first Saturday of every month when we feature a historically significant aircraft from our rare and unique collection. Our program begins at 10:am with the Pledge of Allegiance. Typically we host a 1.5 hr. discussion panel of expert speakers each presenting to the public. Speakers often include: book authors, pilots, historians, and/or eyewitness accounts of historic events and sometimes include a slideshow.
An opportunity for question and answer is provided followed by a member raffle for a flight that day, weather permitting. At noon, again weather permitting, we fly the featured aircraft overhead for about 20 minutes. Featured aircraft are generally on display and available to photograph during the program. We have come to expect anywhere from 250 - 500 guests in attendance so please arrive early to secure a good seat and tour the Museum before the program starts. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays and the gift shop has a limited number of author/speaker books available.
See you there!
