I like Dave Grohl, but I would not consider him anywhere near the best drummer. Am I the only one that noticed that his solos and major fills are always the same thing?

Every accent perfectly placed. The speediest fills perfectly in time. Creativity to burn. It is a pleasure to watch and listen to him. Even though I am not a big jazz fan, I listen to Dave Weckl. I think he is one of the best soloists there is.

Not the one head "power toms" from the 70s again!?!

I'm not sure that the pvc tube or the snare-in-snare will be the next big thing, but I like that the folks at SJC are being creative and innovative. That parkay floor wrapped snare is a work of art.

I checked my DW Collectors series and my shine kit. The bearing edge is protected by the hoop, but the head is still stretched on the bearing edge. I do not see any advantage to this system. So I buy a bunch more hoops, more expensive heads because they are odd sized (and what about 16" and 18" ...

I think that is a beautiful instrument, and I'm a drummer. The guy demonstrating it wasn't very good though. It would have been better to demonstrate the musical qualities of the bass with a guy who could actually play.

@koolhand666 To be fair, you could have mentioned 70s music as KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, and Andy Gibb. You also could have mentioned 21st century music by Hinder, Shinedown, and Disturbed. But these would have been opposed to your intended point. I would submit to you that there...

I love drums. I have been playing for many years and I also love to talk, write, read, and watch anything having to do with drums. But this was the most godawful video of anything, drums or not, that I have ever seen.

Interesting list. Of course there will be some disagreements, but it is a good list nonetheless. Although, I would have preferred samples from each for the audio, rather than just a song by the #4 man on the list.

Great song and so well done. I wish the video and audio were synced up better.

You definitely have some skills. You used good use of dynamics were fairly creative. I might suggest that you practice more with a metronome. Keep up the good work and keep groovin'.

Good solid playing. Nice dynamic changes and very much in control and in the pocket. Gateway has some of the best worship samples for drums I have seen.

I think the biggest mistake is that he is speaking German and shooting Germans.

The Morrison guy at least has the hairstyle. The Jimi guy is a good guitarist but doesn't even try to sound like Hendrix (then again, who could?). The so called Janis chick, however, is the worst. Not only does she not sound, look, or act like Janis, she just flat out sux.

Nobody played like Terry. Poem 58 is one of the best sample of his incredible solo ability, as well as displaying what Chicago was before they became a pop band.

Uh, your definitions are wrong. You did not do any drum rolls. You did a drum fill using 16th notes in 4/4 time. 16th notes are not drum rolls. Moving to another drum every quarter count accross one measure is not a drum roll. Drum rolls are rudiments (usually single stroke or double stroke)...

Nice. I like the cymbal accents while ghosting the diddle on the snare. I am going to incorporate that into my playing. Thanks.

@mitchem890 Dude, you hit a wall because rudiments bore you. . My "go to" fills often involve double and triple paradiddles around the toms. Some of my quickest hi-hat work is a result of hours of double stroke rolls on a practice pad while watching TV. You think you hit a wall. Get past it b...

That has to be the worst audio recording of a drum set I ever heard. Either that or the guy can't tune worth a damn. The solo was not very good either. Oh, and the guy looked like he might have some gender bending issues. Other than that the video was pretty bad. Thanks for posting.

Agreed. Almost an AC/DC simplification of the beat. Needed to groove it up more. Also agree that they are still a great band.

Two of my top five drummers of all time. Both amazing. I would give this solo match up to Buddy, though I think Vinnie is a better all around musician. Buddy was limited to big band jazz. Vinnie's discography and tour experience is far more vast and varied. Zappa, Sting, Chic Corea, Herbie Ha...
