Left'd 8 see's the imprint come roaring back into peak time territories. Continuing to grow organically and extend its sonic range, the label has taken on a life of its own. Through combining a pair of fresh artists on each release, Left'd is revelling in building its own extended family. Newcomer Shall Ocin takes things to another level with a pair of poppy numbers dripping in underground sleaze while UK based Jonny Cade pitches in with two no-nonsense stompers.
Based in Valencia, Shall Ocin is the kindred musical spirit of none other than 2011 sensation Maceo Plex. Combining assertive drums and melody with a liquid, UK leaning strut, he brings Moving On to the package. Vocals take centre stage, with a strangled femalevocal pitched both up and down then later set against the back ground of hushed conversation.
Patay is a flexing, late night analogue jam set to a sexual pulse. An ascending, retro tinted melody freely dictates the pace, ebbing and flowing with pomp and purpose. Recoiling itself then breaking loose, the melody unravels itself in hypnotic fashion, willing itself to be teased into a peak hour set. The Spanish producer taps directly into the dynamics of the floor, the yearning male vocals catch the tension in the air, while gravely bass kicks deep in the pit of your stomach.
Jonny Cade's Powerdigger is classic Leftroom. A ballsy number that works the low end, it chugs away while subtly adding cheeky melodic elements. Cade's intelligent drum programming and clever fills help gather momentum, eventually building into a grinning, electro tinged wobbler.
Easing things in with distant vocals and swelling sub, Ray Gun builds into a heads down slice of dance floor heat. A well-honed piece of London-centric deep tech house, thetrack perfectly catches the capitals relentless underground scene. Affirming keys tumble over wobbling bass to keep the floor rolling.
Left'd pulls together a disparate set of influences and two burgeoning producers. From wobbling subs to fragmented keys and twisted vocals, all four tracks will bring somethingunique to the floor in their own right.
