About this user

Divorced Mum to 2 sons [12 + 14yrs], who introduced YouTube to me, and now have quite a few stop-motion videos of their Lego models on here! Check out SequenceMovies !!!

I'm finding YouTube a FAB resource for songs I know and had forgotten - also of cover versions. One Sunday recently I spent an afternoon with 'Scarborough Fair' and associated songs/artists.

As I have incredibly broad music tastes, this site's Eden for me! From Gregorian Chant, madrigals, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20thC 'classical' music, G&S comic operetta, some standard opera, ballet, all manner of jazz, swing, rock and pop. My era was mostly the 70s and 80s - so masses of glam rock, disco, ska, reggae, punk, prog, soft and heavy rock are included in my vinyl and CD collections! In recent years, my sons have introduced me to The Fratellis, Ting Tings & Mika and I just love Duffy and The Fleet Foxes, Florence & the Machine, Rumer, Amy McDonald and many more!

I've been a member of a local choir for a year and have been learning how to sing alto parts and not get too distracted by the sopranos! In May, at our local music festival, I sang a solo, linked by choir responses, in a massed choir performance of Vivaldi's 'Gloria' - which was one of the happiest times of my life! My choir sings a wide variety of music - from shows, classic pop songs, some traditional choral music, Zulu songs and more. It's been such fun!

As I was used to singing jazz and blues standards at home, with the fine accompaniment of my sons' father, I was missing regular singing, other than to songs on Radio 2 and my CD collection, so joining a choir has been a wonderful outlet for my voice!
