Welcome to Our Lives Project. Our Lives was a two year project designed to explore the insights and experiences of Muslim women in Bradford, UK.
The OurLives Project focused on over a hundred women, aged 14 to 80 of all walks of life and harnessed media technologies to capture their inspiring insights. The aim was to use the media to put out messages to wider audiences, including policy makers; as well as to empower women to present themselves through participatory video, documentary film, audio, oral history/narratives and the internet. A series of inspiring change seminars and conferences were also organised to enable women to engage with issues of importance to them.
Throughout the process of producing the videos and other media material, their voices remained pivotal, un-obscured by analysis and interpretation.
On this channel we present three participatory films and a series of documentaries about Muslim women. Also on this channel is the film about the "Making Of" this two year project.
The films were produced by Speak-it Productions and funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation www.jrf.org.uk
