About Me:

I was born and raised in Arizona, grew up in a small town and now live in suburbia (boo). Like countless others I aspire to be a published writer and my main hurdle there is my inherit laziness. I really need to fix that...

Anyway I'm not a religious person but instead love science. I went to church as a child but was questioning things right off the bat so I didn't really fit it. Regardless I have half a dozen (maybe more) bibles in my house and enjoy researching it. I find all religions fascinating and am always eager to learn more about them. I can thank my dad for that!
Hometown:
Phoenix. Arizona
Country:
United States
Occupation:
Unpublished Writer (hopefully that'll eventually change... first to stop being lazy... hummm)
Interests:
Reading, writing, movies (love the movies), bike riding (miss having a bike though...), playing with my kitties, sleeping (how I love thee), roleplaying (classic DnD to online), over all being a nerd and hanging with nerds.
Movies:
The Daily Show, Colbert Report, CSI, Law and Order, The Last Unicorn, 28 Days Later, Resident Evil
Music:
Golgel Bordello, Akira Yamaoka, Yoko Kanno, Mozart, Tom Waits, Cake, Disturbed
Books:
This list will be lame... I assure you: Anything by Terry Pratchett, Dragonlance (only the ones written by the original writers though), I used to like the Drizzt books but then the author went off message and started getting less interesting, more recently I'm getting into non-fiction especially anything history related.

The Shadow Effect
In the drama of our evolution, the shadow is the character of greatest interest. The shadow is only dangerous when we keep it locked away in the dark cellar of repression.

At least 26 randomized controlled trials have been published showing no convincing effect of acupuncture on headaches.3
But three large studies have found statistically significant reductions in the amount of headaches suffered by acupuncture patients:

A study involving 400 patients in 2004, by the Royal London Homeopathic hospital, found that headaches reduced sharply after 12 sessions of acupuncture, with lasting effects lasting at least a year.3

Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that is used to try to cure disease, infections and pain as well as curing psychological problems. Traditional practitioners say this is done by rebalancing the Yin and Yang, unblocking Chi, along with various other mystical explanations. In mainstream medicine, acupuncture is known to work as a form of pain relief. Headaches and migraines are the main reason that a GP might refer a patient for acupuncture1. 6 million people in Britain suffer from migraines

While acupuncture has been gaining mainstream acceptance, particularly for pain relief, over the last decade the latest study is one of the largest and longest to show such conclusive effects.

Brian Berman, of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, said: "We have demonstrated that traditional Chinese acupuncture is an effective complement to conventional arthritis treatment and can be successfully employed as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to treating the symptoms of osteoarthritis." Acupuncture, which is at least 2,000 years old, is based on the idea that energy flows along channels called meridians in the body.

Acupuncture significantly reduces pain and improves function in those suffering osteoarthritis of the knee, according to research published yesterday.
Patients who underwent the ancient Chinese needle treatment reported a 44 per cent average reduction in pain and a 40 per cent improvement in mobility.
