With a breathtaking view of Florence below, the Antico Spedale del Bigallo is a medieval building of 13th century, which lies on a hill 5 km. SE of the city. Formerly it functioned as hospital for pilgrims and wayfarers and in the 16th century it became a monastery. Today it is a modern and comfortable Youth Hostel with 40 beds housed in appealing medieval dormitories. The Bigallo Youth Hostel welcomes third millennium pilgrims who yearn to live in an atmosphere outside of time and space and who enjoy both the beauty of nature and of the nearby art centres of Tuscany. The Antico Spedale del Bigallo also has a ceremony room with space for 100 seats, fit for public and private gatherings, such as weddings, anniversaries, concerts, art exhibitions, meetings and/or conferences.

L'Antico Spedale del Bigallo è una costruzione del 1200, situata su una collina a 5 km. a Sud Est di Firenze, da dove si può godere un incantevole panorama della città. Trasformato nel corso dei secoli da "Spedale" (centro di accoglienza dei pellegrini) in monastero, è stato restaurato in una moderna e confortevole struttura turistica dal suggestivo stile monastico. L'Ostello del Bigallo attende i pellegrini del terzo millennio che vogliono vivere in un'atmosfera fuori dal tempo e dallo spazio, a contatto con la natura e con le bellezze artistiche delle più importanti città d'arte della Toscana. L'"Antico Spedale del Bigallo" è anche sala cerimonie con 100 posti per qualsiasi tipo di evento culturale e non, come feste, concerti, meeting, mostre e conferenze.
