I had a few weeks of piano lessons in grammer school. I had to practice at home with a long flat, folded in half, cardboard imitation of the keyboard for a piano. When I would go to school for my music lesson, the teacher would sit beside me as I would then try to play on an actual upright piano. She would be holding a wooden ruler within my peripheral vision, wagging it slightly back and forth. When I played an incorrect note (and I would) she would pop me across the knuckles of the offending hand. Ahhh Those were the days for a little kid like 8 yrs old. Anyway, Later I won a free music lesson thing I entered at a movie theater. The only instrument they had open was the accordian! I took it for about 6 year. Then I was old enough I realized that girls and guys alike my age weren't that thrilled over polkas! Imagine that. So mom played 4-5 chords on her acoustic guitar. So She showed me my first couple chords. After a few weeks she tried hiding it on me in the trunk of her car. Anyway, it was back in the hootenannies. Was song writing (14) and playing them in public by the age of 15. I have probably written over 400 but maybe 40 I would consider decent and maybe 20 that I am really proud of.
