A youtuber from Macedonia asked about the history of Polish-Lithuanian relations. Below I am publishing part I. Some of our stepbrothers may feel insecure having a past like that. I like them anyway and I like their Graduale and Boćiu.
About Me:
At the end of the 14th century ties between Poland and Lithuania were becoming closer. Since the Grand Duke was crowned the king of Poland, the Polish influences started. Again, the elites embraced the new language and the new culture, while fewer and fewer commoners in the shrinking area were still speaking Lithuanian. Soon Polish became the only official language of Lithuania; nobody had to force anybody to accept it. Most of the Lithuanian noblemen saw themselves as yet another part of the Polish nation. They were longing for the freedoms the Polish had in their constitutional monarchy, while Lithuania still remained an absolute monarchy.
In 1569 the last ruler of the Lithuanian dynasty was old and childless. The two monarchies proclaimed the closer union. Lithuanian noblemen had their rights made equal to those of the Polish nobles. A huge part of Lithuania, more or less today's Ukraine, decided to join Poland.
The two monarchies were partitioned by Russia, Austria and Prussia in 1795. When the two countries were reborn in 1918 it became apparent that the historical border between them could not be restored. Only 2% of the people living in Wilno, the historical capital of Lithuania, were the Lithuanians. The whole eastern part of today's Lithuania and most of her central part(including Kowno/Kaunas) were inhabited by the Polish majority. The Wilno region was taken by a Polish general Żeligowski and a democratic election took place there. Vast majority of the voters opted for Poland. Their will was respected and the region became a part of Poland. Unfortunately, the Lithuanian state with capital in Kowno, never recognised the election's results and opressed the Polish. The locals just thought they were the Lithuanian Polish, people whose ancestors joined the Polish nation. The government in Kaunas forced them to speak "modern Lithuanian", a strange language invented in the 19th century by Jonas Jablonskis. It was cleansed of thousands of slavonic (Polish, Russian and Byelorussian loanwords) and in general made as different from Polish as possible.

The only country in this world,that was held slave from all of her neighbours was Macedonia...Hundreds of years of slavery,torturing,killing the moral...And daaaamn we are still here,surviving...But you know,better times are coming for us...And the world is gonna see those times...We shall share them with everybody and with our biggest enemies too...We Macedonians,if we defeat somebody,we give him hand and became friends...You could compare us with Bob Marley when we talk about nationalism...But if we talk about fighting for freedom,then my friend you shall see all that years of slavery coming out of the souls of the macedonians....And please don't mind some individuals,those are payed people to do those specific problems and give the bad picture...
But George,you need to know that when you bringing the "greeko" Macedonian question to the table,you should also know that Macedonians do not promote nationalism,nor have that mentality that is represented in every state on the balkans except here...Macedonians are rised to be fighters for freedom,and if they shoot they gonna shoot because they are tired of beeing slaves and puppets to anyone that is for a level stronger then them.....You cannot mix nationalism with freedom fighters just so you can declare yourself as a highly intellegent persona,that is actin John Lennon and shit...You study first,then you fall into a argue...
btw I don't speak much Greek or Polish...these languages are VERY hard to learn haha.
The christians didn't start those wars and, unfortunately, didn't win them.
