We started in late May 2010 after growing frustration with the Walt Disney Company's lack of quality releases of their catalog titles and it was clear there was no serious organized push from the Disney fan community. Reading comments on shopping sites and forums and on social sites, it was clear there was a lot of Disney fans frustrated with the demise of the "Walt Disney Treasures" collection, the "Disney Afternoon" shows and just any classic Disney title collection dust in the Disney vault. So we formed to create an organized effort on the part of Disney fans everywhere to make the case to Disney Home Entertainment that they need to change some things and get back to releasing these old favorites.
Then, on July 1, 2011, we left our rather long and confusing name of "Disney Fans for Getting Classic Disney shows and films on DVD" to the much simpler name "Open Vault Disney." As Open Vault Disney, we have set the clear mission to get Disney to adopted the DVD-on-Demand Business that many of the other major studios have gone to in releasing their older titles. We have formed a growing web site and have firm footing on both social networking site Facebook and Twitter, with the possibilities of growing on other social networking sites. We have formed new relationships with other Disney fan groups and have slowly but surly been gaining the attention of various parts of the Disney Company as well as other major companies.
We hope to further strengthen these relationships, gain even more notice from Disney, and fine more clear and effective ways of spreading our message high and low to Disney fans everywhere.
We over at Open Vault Disney, have been trying to get the rest of this show and others like it, to be finished being released on DVD! Look for us and help with the campaign!
