"Islam - Verb & Noun"

Islam is not just a name of a religion. Unlike any other religion islam is also a Verb. Islam means Peace aquired by submitting your will to The One Almighty God (Allah).

Many non-Muslims have come to incorrectly believe that Allah is the God of Muslims A deity somehow different from the God of the other faiths. It should be emphasised that the term Allah has no implied meaning at all of an Arabian god, a Moon god or even a Muslim god. Muslims are not claiming any exclusiveness when they say "Allah". However Allah is simply the Arabic Name of the one Almighty God; the same name by which Arabic-speaking Jews and Christians, refer to God. The Allah comes from the term al-ilaah. Al is the definite article in Arabic, equivalent to the in English, while ilaah means a deity or god. So Allah means The God. This is beautifully articulated in the first pillar of Islam which is to believe that God is One, in Arabic it would be, "La ilaha illallah" meaning "There is no god but God"

And to all those friends who have insincere intentions to malign Islam and spread false propaganda regarding it, as one of the members of the Muslim family (a bond closer than blood) has said:
"When I started researching Islam last year, one of the first videos I watched was "Islam: What the West Needs to Know" which included a lot of commentaries from Robert Spencer. I read Jihad Watch and other anti-Islamic websites and thought that was Islam. How wrong I was! After researching just a bit more from authentic Islamic sources, I realized how truly biased these websites are. And with God's guidance Islam just started making more and more sense. I am now a Muslim, alhamdulilah! :)"

I pray that if you are insincere you become sincere and start researching, and if you sincerely have irrational fear about islam, then again you research.

'The medieval Islamic world, from Central Asia to the shores of the Atlantic, was a world where scholars and men of learning flourished. But because we have tended to see Islam as the enemy, as an alien culture, society, and system of belief, we have tended to ignore or erase its great relevance to our own history. For example, we have underestimated the importance of eight hundred years of Islamic society and culture in Spain between the 8th and 15th centuries. The contribution of Muslim Spain to the preservation of classical learning during the Dark Ages, and to the first flowerings of the Renaissance, has long been recognized. But Islamic Spain was much more then a mere larder where Hellenistic knowledge was kept for later consumption by the emerging modern Western world. Not only did Muslim Spain gather and preserve the intellectual content of ancient Greek and Roman civilization, it also interpreted and expanded upon that civilization, and made a vital contribution of its own in so many fields of human endeavour—in science, astronomy, mathematics, algebra (it self an Arabic word), law, history, medicine, pharmacology, optics, agriculture, architecture, theology, music. Averroes [Ibn Rushd] and Avenzoor [Ibn Zuhr], like their counterparts Avicenna [Ibn Sina] and Rhazes [Abu Bakr al Razi] in the East, contributed to the study and practice of medicine in ways from which Europe benefited for centuries afterwards.' [HRH the Prince of Wales, 'Islam and the West', a lecture given at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford on October 27th, 1993, pp.17-18]
