About Ontario Association of Optometrists
Since 1909, the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) has proudly served optometrists by helping to advance the profession at the government, regulatory and public levels.
The OAO is the designated representative for optometry and meets with the provincial government on its members' behalf concerning OHIP coverage, optometric billing codes and procedures, and other services. The OAO monitors provincial legislation and works to ensure that the government considers optometric needs and concerns.
For optometrists, the association offers a wide range of services including group insurance plans, an annual Symposium, continuing education credits, regional workshops, public information materials and a quarterly newsletter to name just a few.
