MY FAMILY IS BEAMING WITH PRIDE

How proud my family is that my cousin Fred P. Hochberg, who made history by being the first openly gay person appointed as a Presidential Cabinet Member (during the Clinton Administration) and was former co-chair of the National Human Rights Campaign, was chosen by President-elect Obama to be one of the seven (so far) LGBT people who are part of the transition team that is helping our future President prepare to take charge of the federal government on his inauguration day.

Obama has placed Fred on the "Economics and International Trade Team."

Fred will make you, our country and the world proud.

Congratulations and Best wishes to Fred's mom Lillian Vernon for raising an apple that doesn't fall far from the tree.

Lillian, I think of you often. You helped me decorate my home. We hunted around the stores of 5th Avenue looking for unusual chachkas and would then enjoy our Chinese food luncheons. I want you to know I never forgot about the "5 Alarm Super Hot Mustard" you slathered on every culinary treat. I hold all these memories sweetly to my heart.
