Empty Conversations filled with empty words NECESSARY TO READ:
This video is of course, my third JHQ vid, and I have to say I'm very proud of it. It took a while, but I'm glad I took the time to work out all the kinks.
This video tells the story of Harley Quinn's origin, refashioned in a Nolan-verse kind of way (duh). I based it off of both the graphic novel Mad Love, and Batman: Harley Quinn and combined the elements of both to make something gritty and new yet still with elements of the old.
DESCRIPTION:
WARNING: SCENES OF ABUSE
The video starts off with Harleen Quinzel interning at Arkham Asylum. She becomes fascinated with the Joker and begins to set up sessions with him, fast becoming his doctor. Harleen, through her sessions, finds she has fallen in love with the Joker and breaks him out of Arkham hence, being caught by the police for releasing him. Her medical license is revoked, and she is brought back to the asylum as a patient this time, being pronounced criminally insane.
As fate would have it, due to the conspirators of Gotham, fate leads a series of explosions that ripple through the asylum and create an escape for the inmates there. Harley leaves Arkham and hitches a ride to find the Joker and upon finding him, swears to work as an accomplice and go under the name he first called her by, Harley Quinn.
Harley stands by the Joker, working as his henchwoman and girlfriend, proclaiming her undying love for the clown prince. Unfortunately, the Joker's massive mood swings lead him to bitterly toy with her by confessing how he warped her mind when she was psychoanalyzing him, and he strikes her down.
Expecting his harlequin to leave him, Harley surprises the Joker by following him outside in her nightgown. In the morning, Harley wakes to find a letter left for her. She's told to go to the docks where it so happens that the Joker has held hostages there. Harley finds besides the gasoline drums is a present for her and inside, the detonator. She's thrilled at first, until she realizes she cannot go through with killing all those people. She calls the Joker and tells him she can't do it.
Upon returning to their hideout, the Joker is furious with Harley and beats her for not following his instructions and consequently pushes her out the window where she is saved by Batman.
Harley is then brought back to Arkham battered and bruised where she suffers from depression, hallucinations, and other mental disorders as she pines for her lost lover, and loathes him at the same time. In the final scene, Harley returns to her cell one day not too long after to find a rose waiting for her with the words 'Feel better soon, J'
And all at once, she's right back where she started.
I really do hope you enjoy this video as I tried my hardest to capture their story without making things too confusing. I'm sorry about the crappy note at the end, I know it looks fake but I tried. And, yes, you know it's a memory from the past days at Arkham if Harley's wearing her rounded glasses and might I say Brittany looks awesome with them on.
