The Co-operative Spirit Recognition Awards celebrate the enormous contributions made by Ontario's co-operative movement to the economic and social well-being of our province.

As of 2011, the Spirit Awards have recognized 110 outstanding individuals and organizations in the co-operative sector, since its inception in 1999. Each Spirit Award video dating back to 2001 is found here, and can be viewed under its respective playlist (organized by year).

The Spirit Awards are broken down into categories including: Distinguished Co-operator, Youth Mentor, Co-op Innovator, Youth Leader, Co-operative Social Responsibility and New Co-op of Distinction.

The Awards banquet and ceremony is the crown jewel of the Co-operative Conference and Gala, the co-op sectors annual professional development and networking event. Each Spirit Award recipient is introduced to the audience through these videos, and then presented with their Award.

The 2011 Awards were presented during the Spirit Awards Banquet and Gala on Wednesday October 19, 2011.

The United Nations has declared that 2012 is the International Year of Co-operatives, using the theme, "Co-operative Enterprises Build a Better World."
