La conjunción de la mágica selva amazónica peruana con la visionaria ayahuasca , utilizada en sus ritos chamánicos,le otorgaron ,a este autodidacta pintor nativo, una singular imaginación artística, plasmada en una prolífica obra pictórica de reconocimiento universal.
Recientemente fallecido (16-09-2009), nació
en el pequeño poblado de Puerto Libertad a orillas del gran rio Ucayali en la selva peruana. Su familia sumida en la pobreza extrema pudo enviarlo sólo dos años a la escuela, viéndose obligado a trabajar desde pequeño. Ejerció durante 10 años como sanador (chamán): "conservo las visiones como una memoria fotográfica"..."la ayahuasca te enseña como debes comportarte,como debes estar con los humanos siendo humano"..."como no debes vivir por vivir, sino, ayudando al otro y construyéndote primero a ti mismo" .
Desarrolló un estilo artístico inconfundible dandole importancia a la creación a partir de elementos chamánicos y de las visiones del ayahuasca y otras plantas sagradas amazónicas. Así concebia y ejecutaba sus pinturas : "me concentro hasta que veo una imagen
completa ,con todos sus detalles ,de un paisaje o de uno de mis viajes con ayahuasca. Luego proyecto esta imagen en el papel o lienzo.Hecho esto,añado los colores".
Pablo recordaba sus visiones tan bien "como si estuviera teniendo la experiencia de nuevo". Una vez con la imagen fija en su mente,era capaz de trabajar simultaneamente con varios cuadros, sabiendo perfectamente qué diseño o color correspondía, razón por la cual apenas corregía. Amaringo creía que del ayahuasca adquirió su capacidad de visualizar tan claramente y su gran conocimiento sobre el uso de los colores.
