Music is Shaitans tool to corrupt mankind, but we can use this against him to teach people, however although I used to use music, Alhamdulillah I've stopped now. Like most people, I used to have the belief music is halal if used to positive purposes, however the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk (for men), the drinking of alcohol, and the use of musical instruments as lawful". This clearly shows that music is haraam.
