Formed in London in 1971 Roxy Music emerge as one of the most unique of the British rock scene, with an experimental style gritty. Hastily put the same cauldron with the glam scene of artists such as David Bowie, T-Rex and Mott the Hoople, Roxy Music show a different sensitivity already with their eponymous debut album (1972) that in the wake of the single Virginia Plain leads them into the Top 5. Following the second-most-acclaimed LP For Your Pleasure (1973), Brian Eno left Roxy Music, replaced by Eddie Jobson (ex member of Curved Air, future founding member of the Group UK and associate of Frank Zappa and Jethro Tull among others), which will bring in the Innovation Group of violin. Under the leadership increasingly expert Bryan Ferry (which meanwhile is pursuing a successful solo career), the group will develop a sound less instinctive but more elegant and delicate.
