Founded in Brisbane in 1951 by Robert and Jean O'Neil, the business was sold to Rita van Lieshout in 1979, a friend, gemmologist, valuer and colleague of long and very close association. Rita steadily and astutely built the business through the 80′s and 90′s and was then joined by her son, Brendan McCreesh.
In August 2010, O'Neils Gems bought competitor Sapphex and Affiliated Importers, thereby beginning a new and exciting era. It was decided to combine two of the oldest and well established gemstone business names in Australia ... O'Neils Gems and Affiliated Importers to form the new O'Neils Affiliated Pty Ltd. With the combined expertise and huge experience of all concerned it is the premiere coloured gemstone business in Australia.
