Sometimes it breaks my heart to hear her Medea. I know that it was one of her signatures, but I can't help but wonder if she became self indulgent with it. Maybe a little like Eugene O'Neil's dad with his signature "Count of Monte Cristo." She was a natural.

How could a Henry VIII, mad with personal power and infatuated with his own strength not be willing to cast all aside for this Anna Bolena? Maybe not the greated history, but again, a very human story.
I grew up listening to Dame Baker. Such a gorgeous musical line with out all of the "drama" fussiness. Her singing is her own...but I sometimes think that in Bakers's singing, we were given a bit of consolation for loosing Kathleen Ferrier too, too early.
