This purpose of this channel is to get people involved in saving mass transit. Politicians across the country are choosing to balance the budget on the backs of transit riders, even though taking mass transit is beneficial to both the economy and the environment. Ed Mangano decided to cut ties with the MTA and contract LI Bus service to Veolia, because Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano refused to pay the $26 Million needed for the MTA to continue running Long Island Bus, and claims privatization is the answer. Mangano only wants to spend $2 Million, which is far below even private-public partnership systems like Suffolk Transit. There's no way for any company to continue the level of service for the 100,000 daily bus riders in Nassau without more money. Please get involved as the very future of Long Island depends on it!
