Our language is a connection to our ancestors. It holds their world view. Every voice is an important link between the past and the present, and language is the one true link that will allow future generations to remain connected with the Salish way of life and world view. We believe in our hearts the
language will never end. We will again become strong people.

Nkwusm is a Non-Profit organization with the goal of revitalizing the Salsih Language and culture. The Salish language is currently spoken by just 58 people fluently, most of whom are over 65 years old; in the past six years, 30 fluent speakers have been lost. In that loss, we lose stories, words, history and ideology. The Salish Language will be lost in less than 10 years without a drastic and aggressive movement to revitalize the language. Recognizing this need Nkwusm is doing all it can to revitalize the language and culture of the Salish People.
