Chinese President Xi Jinping in New Delhi called for both the Asian economies to pursue developmental goals together. On Wednesday, Xi arrived to a lavish welcome in Ahmedabad, kicking off a three-day visit aimed at rebooting ties with massive Chinese investments in India, especially in infrastructure.
Speaking exclusively to Niti Central, Professor MD Nalapat says that Prime Minister Modi has been showcasing his international diplomacy with diligence. Economic relations between India and China are extremely beneficial for both countries but the Manmohan Singh Government blocked several economic tie-ups with China because of security issues. As a result, India lost an opportunity while dealing ineffectively with the threat.
He adds that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's diplomacy with China sends a twin message to the world that India would not miss on economic opportunities between the countries and will also strongly deal with the border issues. The reality that India can cash upon consists of significant Chinese investment in India, huge tourism inflow, financial development which should be dealt with diligence and smooth diplomacy.
