@tjawify Yeah, I don't know.. Of course he Bird is a virtuoso blockbuster, but I prefer Cannonball for example. His phrasing is so kind of joyful & swings so much more than Bird. Just listen to a classic like All Blues, Cannonball's solo just grabs your ears in a way that Bird somehow doesn't.

This album is the best thing I've heard for months. I just listened to the title track "What is the Beautiful?" Kenneth Patchen's poetry is intense and powerful - even more so when interpreted by such excellent musicians as these. And Kurt Elling is an absolute master of his craft.

@bluemorris I think the track is OK. In the original recording, Paul Chambers seems to stick on G7 even when it's "supposed" to be C7. That's what i can make out from listening to the recording anyway.
