I like the idea of protective styling, but I think sometimes it does more harm than good. Just did my 2nd bc after almost 3 yrs of being natural because my hair wasn't as healthy as I wanted. I contribute some damage to long term "protective" styling.

In April will b my 3yr anniversary of my 1st BC. I did a 2nd BC 1/2/12 because my hair was unhealthy. This year I will get to know my hair all over again and I will journal on my journey. I will use journaling to create a regimine and stick to products that I find worl for my hair.

About Walk This Way
After having locs for 8 years I decided I needed a change so I permed my hair. It didn't take long (2 months) for me to realize that I loved the look, feel, and texture of my natural. Although locs are natural, I was not as confident on how to take care loose natural hair. I stumbled onto the youtube natural community looking for ideas on how to take care of my hair. I'm so glad I found this youtube community because I look to it for guidance, comparison, inspiration, and knowledge. I began my natural journey on 4/19/09, though, there are times when I say to myself, "What am I doing, this is not working." I just turn on my computer and my resolve is restored. Sharing in the experiences of other naturals has been enlightening, as well as inspiring.
