I am a player and collector of vintage cymbals, in particular Super Zyn's and their 5 Star friends. These have so often been overlooked due to their lower grade budget ranges. I have in 35 years of drumming used virtually all makes from Zildjian k's to Standard Zyn's. In my opinion, you should never buy a cymbal based on the makers stamp or kudos value, use your ears. Some dreadful "live" cymbals can sound amazing when recorded, inversely I have played some so called holy grail K's that sounded like dustbin lids in the studio. Its all down to the sound.. I don't wear words on shirts as I'm not that shallow, nor do I buy cymbals because the latest thing on MTV is playing them. Do yourself a favour and experiment!! Believe me I can drivel on about this for hours and often do. Try to push yourself musically, its rewarding and energising. DJ's are NOT musicians, the put other peoples records on, nothing more. Love and Light!!!
