The only change I'd make to the XC70 is more HP and NM.

My 10 year old Audi allroad still outperforms the brand new XC70.

Having said that, today I'd most likely chose the new XC70 instead of an allroad.

@ramonj08 - the new Volvo XC70 would tempt me away from a BWM. So would the Audi allroad. BMW doesn't have a car in that category.

@gauloiscalifornien - the only European auto industry doing well is the German premium brands (Audi, BMW and Mercedes). All the rest is failing, the French and Italian car vendors are in trouble if they don't secure some Asian partner. Economist newspaper conclusion.

It does need a TDi version though. A TDi engine would be more suited to that type of car and a TDi engine produces more torque climbing and pull power which the factor that's most important to 4x4s.

@MPW581 yep make it 3.0 TDi, not much more fuel comsumption, but a lot more torque and fun. I drive the A6 allroad 2.7T and I think I'll go for the smaller A4 allroad next - 3.0 TDi of course.

@Benjani7 that's what happens when companies prey on wealthy urbane people who don't know any longer where milk comes from and wouldn't know a cow if they saw one.

They do a rather excellent job of pulling of a stereotyed Irish bog accent - mintil illness, Crist, wurd, dis morning, eart, bollix - but instead of Jesus he should have pronounced it Jaysus.

True. Even with less powered cars. My Audi Allroad 2.7T with 290 bhp and 470 Nm torque is nearly just as quick off the mark. It was a lot cheaper to acquire. And is more practical. And German engineered!
