My story as I see it (how you see it may be completely different):
2006: Started wine touring in various regions (California, Niagara, New York, Nova Scotia) and this is where my interest in wineries started. Deciding researching what it would take to start one.
2007: Planted 300 vines in the spring. Every single one of them died that winter. Realized I didn't have the best site for growing grapes and started looking for a better piece of land and bought a 30 acre lot.
2008: Mainly land prep, getting the field ready for vines. Kept working to pay off debts.
May, 2009: My employer gave me a month notice that I would be losing my job. LIterally the next day, I went to the bank and took out the largest mortgage that they would give me based on my current salary. Like any business owner, I constantly looking for additional sources of funding presenting business plan after business plan to anyone who will listen.
June 2009: Planted 1300 vines. The 16th was my last day of work however, I didn't really care. By this time, I was happy I was let go.
August, 2009: Paid a contractor to frame the winery, install windows and doors.
October to Present: Have been finishing the building ever since as my full-time job. Feel free to watch a video to get the latest status. However, I do realize that they aren't the best at giving updates. I really enjoy making these videos and like to have fun with them.
