RAAF Environmental Impact. Part 1
The RAAF's severe impact on the lives of people and the environment.
And finally, there are solutions to many of the problems. Very few of the people involved in the class action want the RAAF to move. They just want to have their rights as Australian citizens recognised. Most of them have a statement from Council that says their property was not affected by noise...

I’d love to have someone explain to me what that ‘there’ really is. Is it just Williamtown, or Saltash, Medowie, or Raymond Terrace? Or does it include Karuah, Oyster Cove, or Swan Bay? Might it go to Bulahdelah and Maitland in the future? The problem is, ‘there’ seems to expand every time the RA...

This problem is much bigger than Saltash. A lot of people in Raymond Terrace are affected and Raymond Terrace has been there for 100 years longer than the RAAF.

@Tomcatsbaby, if you want to learn some facts about the various issues, rather than just shooting from the hip, Google:
Air Power Australia
and:
SafeEars
Lots of relevant info in those sites. In Air Power Australia's site, look in the NOTAMs section for JSF and the opposition, mostly Russian-made...

@Tomcatsbaby, RAAF can co-exist with the people in this area, and get all the necessary training done. It just requires a bit of forethought and effort from them to allow it to happen. The F-35 isn't going to do bombing practice at Saltash - they don't do eyeball low-level bombing any more, it's ...

@Tomcatsbaby, re whinging. I'm all for a capable ADF, you'll not find a more passionate supporter of a strong ADO than myself. My beef is with bureaucrats who think they can destroy the lives of Australian Citizens with impunity. One of the principles that I, and so many other members of the ADF ...

@Tomcatsbaby, on the subject of research, try doing a bit of your own into just what we will be getting for $200 million each - a plane that doesn't stack up well against other aircraft that may be arriving in the region soon. The F-35 tries to do too many things and ends up doing none of them we...

@Tomcatsbaby, I don't see why you think I'm suggesting the RAAF actually go and buy a bunch of Kittyhawks (not available since about 1945, but I think even you know that too). If you actually READ all the posts below you might start to understand that for most of the people it's not about the RAA...

Regarding the argument 'the RAAF was there first', well, that's true to a degree, but in 1945 the RAAF was 'there' with Kittyhawks and other piston-engined aircraft. Personally, I'd love to hear the sound of a V-12 Allison over the range. But I'm afraid the 'here first' argument gets re-set every...

@Jobantus, I chose to live here too. When I was buying, I knew that the RAAF was nearby. I should know, I was in the RAAF for 35 years and a fair bit of that at Williamtown. Before I bought I checked for the usual things like mine subsidence, flooding, and noise. My S149 certificate says 'not noi...

@Jobantus, I live in Medowie too, and I don't mind the noise at all. The problem is that the Council has put building restrictions on quite a bit of Medowie land in response to the much-louder JSF that will (might) arrive in a few years time. Have you checked your land against the ANEF2025 maps? ...
