@lorddayman88 I'm with Rocking. I found it easily one of the best series I've seen for its subtlety and poignancy. It's less of an action series (it condemns violence) and more of a sad, slow drama that explores dark material yet at the same time is not a wreck of hopeless cynicism.

I'm also part of the Gunslinger Girl "cult" following. It's one of the most under-appreciated series I've ever seen, and easily my favorite anime for its sheer poignancy. An elegant portrayal of our world, gone wrong in so many ways yet with a subtle counterbeat of beauty and even divinity.

If you actually listen they play this during the first episode as well, during the flashback to Henrietta's training. I think it really sends the message that something horrible is happening, something that can never be undone.

@jjhoops023 No, I think the real sadness is that she did not. She knew obsession and devotion, but seeing Jose and Henrietta made part of her realize that she wanted (nay, NEEDED) what they had.

It's a shame that they weren't able to include these lines: "Before we let euphoria/convince us we are free./Remind us how we used to feel/before when life was real..." They're in the full song and are unbelievably fitting for the series as a whole.

This is the best Gunslinger Girl AMV I've found. It's such an underrated series and there are sadly relatively few efforts dedicated to it. Also part of this song actually plays during the first episode when Henrietta is first undergoing training, which adds to the sense that something irreparable is happening.

it adds an extra twist to the perversity because it distances reality even further from what it should be. In essence, the cuter, kinder, and more innocent Henrietta is the more horrid what they've done becomes.
