My name is Laura but I go by Necrowitch as well. I'm from Kingsville Texas and I have been a 90% raw foodist since march 28th 2009.

I started out on the raw path because my health was failing and i had a laundry list of chronic ailments i needed to address and the flu (also a bit of fear of an early and slowly painful demise from diabetes like I've witnessed in everyone on my mom's side of the family). My doctor had told me I was malnourished years ago and even though i tried eating the healthiest way i had been taught in school, by media, and even family & friends. My health continued to degrade. So I began to question, what are the healthiest foods? I planned on finding the top most nutritious foods to correct my malnourishment, see what the body actually needs, and supply it only thru the most health promoting foods.

I set off to research and what i came across repeatedly was fruits and vegetables. Not just any fruits or vegetables I'd normally eat. no. The vegetables in their raw state were at their peak of nutrient density and variety. At that moment I remembered a year ago I watched a youtube vid were this girl was whining about how hard it was to be on a raw food diet and agreeing it was the healthiest thing.. So I entered "raw food" into the youtube search and the first 5 vids made me almost give up on that line of inquiry but i decided i needed more info and clicked 1 more vid. It was one from Philip McCluskey... lets just say I was about to give up again until he said the magic words which were that i could stuff myself and still lose weight.

Yup it raised my eyebrow in curiosity. I ended up watching all his vids. I was only conceived it I needed to research this further. Once i had found him I found more and more raw food channels which made me realize this would definitely be nourishing. I decided to give it a try the very next day. The 2nd and 3rd day of being raw I found out the hard way that detoxing isn't a myth because everything i put into my mouth for 2 solid days tasted like it had been sprayed with Lysol. I was a youtube zombie for 2 straight weeks. non-stop watching of raw food and nutrition youtube vids from the moment i woke up to the moment I went to sleep. but truth be told.. it didn't stop at 2 weeks, almost 9 months later i am still getting in a minimum of 3 hours of raw food research in daily but average much higher. and why not? I do plan on being at the very least being High Raw for the rest of my life.

I would like to eventually go 100% raw and stay that way for at least as long as it takes to reverse my ills. I can't say i will stay 100% for the rest of my life since I'm not 100% raw yet and have yet to form an opinion on how i feel when I am. So far as of today, I've lost 55 pounds, no exercising, while totally stuffing myself... 2/3 of my chronic ailments have now been fully cured and the other 1/3 are showing gradual improvements. =^-^= yay me!
