Eventually it has to melt;it's a cycle. In northern Alberta Canada palm tree leaves have been found in the tar sands (oil) so at one time it was hot up here and this morning it was-47c so we're no where near growing palm trees yet. but if we did at one time I'm sure the cycle will return. And yes as the ice caps melt the rate will start multiplying.CFC's are breaking down the ozone layer in to oxygen. CO2 is being
released from natural sources like the rainforest cus were cutting it down. Also where cutting down the thing that takes the most co2 out of the air. Buring fossil fuels and stuff produces CO2 which rises and acts a 'blanket' and keeps all the hot air in and rises the temp of the earth.2007 was the record year for Arctic ice melt. 2008 almost broke the record. That's from the NSIDC, Natl Snow and Ice Data Center.2007/8 Greenland lost 222 cubic kilometers of ice. That's 444 km3 total in two years. Look up Gravity Recovery and Climate
Experiment.
