Naper Settlement is a historic museum in Naperville, Illinois, located just 28 miles west of Chicago. Open year-round, the 13-acre grounds feature family fun for all ages from pioneer beginnings to Victorian times. Costumed villagers interpret the homes, buildings and businesses in the historic village during the Summer Season. The Martin Mitchell Mansion, a showpiece of the museum and the only house in Naperville listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is open for tours to capture the beauty and grandeur of the 19th century. During the Winter Season, the building exteriors are available for viewing, along with visitor center exhibits. An audio tour is included with admission. The Naper Settlement Museum Store is open year-round for shopping with or without admission, and features specialty goods with historic themes, unique products and Naperville-themed memorabilia. Naper Settlement is the only outdoor history museum in Illinois accredited by the American Association of Museums.
