Also, Lao people sometimes refer to ourselves as "Tai" amongst ourselves (not to be confused with "Thai")....it can all be confusing to many people who aren't familiar to ethnic Lao-Tai people though lol.

@gr8Sweetfox So are you saying she KNEW the whole incident was being film? Somehow I doubt it, especially more good samaritans are more likely to get sued by the victims they try to help than get a cash reward/fame in return in that country.

@hmongforever100 This coming from a mountain gypsy who doesn't even know the history of Lao media before Communist take over. Guess the same can be said for your people discovering indoor plumbing too by way of using basic Lao vocabulary for common civil items (ie. Hong Nam).

@sillyman7111 Yup you are correct. Which is why "Laotian" reflectively refers to nationality (which includes Khamu, Kui, Mien, Hmong, ethnic Lao, etc.). However "Lao" just refers to the the language spoken and the ethnic Lao people. Laos as a whole in my opinion is just as Western simplificati...

@laoboitube Very true. Notice the perpetuated hate is almost ALWAYS instigated by Thais onto Lao or Khmer people. You have to wonder, why is this? If they "feel" they are so "better," then why are they usually the ones insecure with regards to who they really are?

Hi Avonabon, thanks for posting a Lao language course! Have you considered perhaps renaming your titles or updating some things?

Laotian (Lao-tian=Lao-Shan) is the nationality of Laos (includes Tai Lao, Hmong, Khmu, Mien, Kui, etc.)

Lao=the national language spoken

Vietnamese sounds like Khmer (minus the consonant clusters & it's tonal instead)

Thai sounds like a mix of Khmer & Lao

Burmese sounds similar to Tibetan in my opinion

Indonesian & Malay, I can't tell them apart

BUT I can tell Filipino Tagalog apart from Malay/Indonesian though

1) Lao (not the best example of Lao though)

2) Mandarin (not the best example of Mandarin in my opinion)

3) Malay

I only pick these as my top three cause I personally feel it would be easier to learn these languages compared to the rest...rofl

Let's see...JC's singing voice vs. Nick's???? JC's voice is better hands down. I've heard lots of guys who sing like Nick. Nick has a good voice, no doubt...but does it stand out or has the capabilities to be "legendary" even in old age? No...at best it's average.
