TBH, I only saw half of season 1 as a episode always glitched on me halfway through and I neglected to continue with the series until I could see it, I haven't tried in months but I doubt anyting has changed since then. I never saw the OVA, so I have no clue if it's good or not.
And I saw Lucky Star subbed, I have always preffered to watch shows with their original language most of the times (my mother language isn't english, in case you didn't know), so I always go for subs when I have the chance, I just find it ironic since the people that love TMoHS tend to love Lucky Star and vice-versa.

to answer your bowser question the bowsers in castles 1-7 are fake. if you kill them with fire flowers they will become either koopa's or goomba's. thats why it seems like bowser keeps living. the truth is you only really fight him once

I like him in Brawl as his moveset is original and faithful to his character.
