About Me:

National Relief Charities (NRC) is a nonprofit dedicated to quality of life for Native Americans living on remote and poverty-stricken reservations in the Plains and Southwest. Our mission is "To help Native American people improve the quality of their lives by providing opportunities for them to bring about positive changes in their communities."

The majority of NRC's support is designed to help meet the basic human needs of those most vulnerable: Native American Elders and youth. NRC works with reservation programs that are concerned with having an adequate food supply, having access to fresh versus canned produce, creating the opportunity to participate in major holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, improving access to preventative health care and health education, having proper school supplies and access to college, and being more prepared for winter and weather emergencies. NRC has over 1,000 reservation "program partners" on over 75 reservations. We work with them year-round to deliver over 5 million pounds of high-quality goods a year.

In addition to providing humanitarian relief through material aid, NRC also provides educational assistance, supports the work in process by reservation communities, and helps build more capacity. This approach respects local determination and supports more self-sufficient American Indian communities.

We estimate that the work of NRC, its donors, and its partners help improve quality of life for over 300,000 American Indians each year.
