Ahhh my friend the reason why it jammed was because you didn't fully slide the pump up. I have an ol reliable 870 too, and i also experiance this all you need to do to prevent this is make sure the slide is all the way up. Thats why mine jams. I hopes this helps. Great Shoootin by the Way.
