Actually it is NOT. You are correct with the Thompson M1A1, but it's Remington 870 inside SPAS-12 cage.
Per original movie prop or any other build. You can not fit SPAS-12 into that frame. SPAS-12 is semi-auto/pump action. SPAS-12 gas systems would take too much room.

So ? That is one way to release the bolt and actually preferred way according to some training schools. Charging handle method works even if the bolt is forward.
