The NKT led me to believe only they could provide enlightement, "only Kelsang Gyatso" can offer pure teachines; all other Buddhist teachings are false. The only way to "enlightenment" is through Kelsang Gyatso.
If you try to leave NKT, they will hound you and threaten your spiritual path; they will say bad things will happen to you.
All this is mainly for them to keep their membership up, and keep money flowing in.
It is a bitter lesson.
Now I am free of it. I am humiliated that I got tricked into it so easily, but hopefully it will be able to be turned into a learning experience.
If I had thought more carefully, I would realize that "following only one way" or "following only one teacher" is completely against the core of Buddhist thoughts; I would have asked myself, "Hmm, why does NKT say "only NKT" is the path."
But humans can be easily tricked.
Find your own path; examine your teachers. If they spend a lot of their time bad-mouthing other teachers, or trying to prevent you from attending other teacher's teachings, like NKT does, there is probably something wrong with them.
