THE NIGHTPRO BIOGRAPHY
Nightpro Biography
Nightpro was born in the late spring on 1980 in Europe. Nightpro arrived as a baby in England where the family home was in South London. His parents had immigrated to the UK from Ghana.
At around the age of 8 years old was when Nightpro first found a love for music, like many of us; he had heard the record by Musical Youth called 'Pass the Dutchie', and had become much taken with it. Until the ages of around 14, Nightpro was singularly very much into reggae, ragga or what was sometimes called dancehall. Nightpro first discovered a liking to rap when he heard a rap track on one of his father's jazz records called " Season for Change" by Ronny Jordan feat Guru. This record alone inspired the young Nightpro to attempt writing a rap, which he completed and named 'Tarmac'. At this time Nightpro was enjoying the likes of Shabba Ranks, Super Cat and Buju Banton
At around the age of 15 Nightpro discovered hiphop, the genre which led him to becoming the artist which we observe today. A close family member called Mark ( who now is also well established in the industry), introduced Nightpro to Ol' Dirty Bastard's 'Brooklyn Zoo', originally Nightpro disliked the music as the melodies were foreign to his comfort zone, but the more he listened to various works, the more he began to like and then love, and in particular a love grew for Wu -Tang Clan. Nightpro and Mark (having only an age difference of eight days), spent time then, writing lyrics both alone and together, Wu Tang in particular had influenced Nightpro greatly- lyrically and in style. Nightro and Mark would influence each other in tastes, as Nightpro explored the genres of hiphop and rap further and became attached to Nas; whose fluent rhyming both mesmerised and mentored him. Nightpro and Mark would seek out instrumentals on the backs of records and record their music onto cassette tapes and then would show their peers and were glad to see how well it was received. The twosome called themselves 'City Hall' and participated in local talent shows, and then recruited a third member. The trio then renamed themselves China White and sought out producers, and began recording in a studio. At this time Nightpro was in his late teens/early twenties and living in a hostel. China White found the extravagance of affording studio time straining which led Nightpro to self educate himself to make beats and as he improved they were used within the group, and he concluded that setting up their own studio would save them financially in the long run, from paying out to other studios. As each of the members progressed and matured, Mark moved towards the pop genre, Nightpro moved into alternative hiphop, nature ran its course and the three decided to part ways.
As HipHop began to devolve away from it's originality, with the rise of new artists, Nightpro found listening to the records he used to enjoy monotomous and began to seek outside of the hiphop genre into other genres he appreciated. Once in HMV hearing the album "Brand New Second Hand" by Roots Manuva, Nightpro was encouraged to see the talent in this UK artist and in particular appreciated how innovative and original the sound was. Nightpro states that Roots taught him to be himself as an artist, to remain original, therefore being a better artist.
Nightpro having gained technical experience, decided to continue with his initial plan, and after having moved out of the hostel set up a studio with the help of The Princes Trust's backing. The studio turned over business well, Nightpro decided to join forces with Cause and Effect Recordings and initiated and managed the creation of "Diamonds in the Rough" an innovative compilation showcasing London's urban talent, featuring the artists whom we now observe progressing well within the industry. Nightpro's extremely popular "Lemon Juice" and "Hearts on Fire" feature on the compilation. To this day Nightpro still produces much of his own works as well as for others.
Nightpro is a multitalented artist, DISPLAYING EXTRAORDINARY production skills, song writing, lyrical and artistic ability as well as being a naturally shrewd businessman with the vision and insight needed for the projects he undertakes. The Nightpro is currently in the midst of working on and recording his first album.
