On Tuesday, February 7, 2012 advocates from two dozen health, education and faith groups held a press conference calling for the Nebraska Legislature to pass LB 599, a bill to restore prenatal care to all Nebraska children. In 2010, 1,600 low-income women lost access to prenatal care through Medicaid, leaving them without the critical care that would help their baby be born as healthy as possible. Without this coverage, providers have reported inadequate prenatal care, still births, and emergency deliveries. Prenatal care for all is good fiscal and health policy for Nebraska.
Nearly 500 Nebraskans gathered on January 27, 2011 at the Nebraska State Capitol to oppose LB 48, the divisive and unconstitutional Arizona-style immigration bill.
